101 Things, Month 3

3. Listen to all archived episodes of NPR’s “This American Life”. I listened to, like, one all month. It was about people who spend their lives in pursuit of unattainable goals.

4. Release 5 books into the wild through Bookcrossing. I was at the library with my crafty friend the weekend before last and found a Bookcrossing book outside in a plastic baggie. I was extremely excited, even though it was a romance novel and I don’t read those. I left it outside the Hen House at Johnson & Antioch.

12. See all 5 of the Best Picture nominees every year during the 1,001 days. I saw Michael Clayton and No Country For Old Men in March. Michael Clayton is a nice story about a man who loves to pet horses, and No Country For Old Men is a nice story about a man who loves to do coin tricks. Now I have to see Atonement and There Will Be Blood.

20. Watch 5 films that came out before 1950. I watched Treasure of the Sierra Madre.  It is a nice story about a man who loves burros.

53.  Find something in my house that I don’t use anymore, which would be of genuine utility to another person, and give it to them. I found my old Sony Minidisk player and gave it to my crafty friend, who is learning to play the mandolin and needed something to record her practice sessions on.

54.  Have dinner with my grandmother 10 times. My boyfriend and I went out to dinner with my grandma and her boyfriend He did a good job pretending not to be antisocial, and I was very proud of him.  He even managed a couple of smiles.  My grandma’s boyfriend was feeling crotchety since people kept trying to come and take his food away from him.  “Get away, you sons of bitches!” he finally yelled at someone who grabbed his plate.

57. Eat at 6 restaurants I have never visited before. My boyfriend and I tried the Thai Orchid in Merriam at the beginning of March and have been back many times since then.  I don’t think they have anything there that I don’t like.

77.  Complete a jigsaw puzzle with at least 500 pieces. I haven’t done this yet, but I bought a table this weekend at a yard sale for $30, which is a start, and I have a puzzle.  I haven’t done a jigsaw puzzle in years, because I haven’t had a table for too long.

80.  For at least 46 nonconsecutive weeks, exercise at a moderate intensity at least 3 times during the calendar week, for at least 20 minutes each session. I got sick around mid-month, but until then I was doing all right.  Now I just need to get back on the wagon.  I’m stuck around two times a week and it feels like I am doing absolutely nothing.

86.  Remember to write down what I eat at least 75% of the time. I’m thinking of tossing this one and replacing it with something like flossing my teeth.  I hate journaling my food and feeling guilty when I forget to do it.

87. Starting in March 2008, clear all yard debris and outdoor clutter from the front of the house. I didn’t do this.  My boyfriend did it.  I’ll cross it off the list anyway.

A few list items, which simply involve basic tracking, are boring to update.  I don’t think I’ll mess with them here.  I made a little list to work on for March, most of which I ignored because I was working on crafty stuff.  Oh, well.
