Face It Girls, I’m Older And Have More Insurance

This morning my gamer coworker was on her way to work when she got plowed by some lady while crossing a street. I heard her talking about it on the phone and asked her about it. Apparently she sat at the stop sign, waited for traffic to clear, and pulled out. Then this lady with no headlights on slammed right into her without even braking. The lady’s husband was right behind her and I guess he said something to the lady about how she didn’t have her lights on. When the police arrived the man told them that his wife certainly had her lights on, he was right behind her and saw the whole thing. My gamer coworker never even saw the lady.
“Was it pretty dark?” I asked. I knew she tended to get to work pretty early, but I wasn’t sure how early.
“Yeah, pitch black. About four-thirty this morning,” she said. “I wasn’t groggy from just waking up or anything, either. I’d already been up for two or three hours playing WOW.”
“Oh,” I said. That is very early. It gave me an entirely new perspective on my gamer coworker. She must keep very unusual hours. Like, she leaves for work before 4:30 and has already been up for hours. Amazing!
“If it were twenty years ago, this would have ruined my day,” she said. “But I don’t really care. It’s annoying, but nobody got hurt. The insurance will take care of it.”
If it had been me, it definitely would have ruined my day. She only made the first payment on that car like last week. So I think my gamer coworker is a good person to look up to. She does not sweat things. She does not let anything keep her from enjoying life. She also does not sleep, as far as I can tell. She is a remarkable person.
