Motion to Dismiss

All the toilets at my new work have motion sensors that activate the flushing mechanism. I don’t know if this is because they are so high tech, or if it’s because there was a problem in the past with people being too lazy to work the handle after they finished their business, but it’s an interesting change since my old work had the traditional stick handle out to the side style of public toilets.
So I have invented this sort of game that I play where after I pee, I try to stand up and fasten my pants without setting off the motion sensor and flushing the toilet. Obviously I can’t not flush it entirely, because a) gross and b) no way to open the door without activating the flush. I have gotten pretty good at it, all things considered. If I concentrate, keep my back to the toilet, and work slowly without moving my arms too much, I can make it till opening the door.
The building takes up basically a whole city block, so the bathroom is far away. Like .02 miles or something. Which, seriously, is far for indoors. So sometimes I run downstairs instead because the first floor bathroom is close to the stairwell. One of the stalls down there has a very touchy sensor and I can’t win against it. Literally, it triggers while I am still sitting down. Yet I am curiously drawn to it anyway. Despite the inevitable, I keep trying. I think that toilet must waste a ton of water, because it is impossible to use it without at least three flushes.
So that’s what I’ve been up to lately.
