Can’t You See This Is a Land of Confusion?

He Would Not Lend A Hand!My boyfriend told me this morning that Genesis is back on tour. This excited me at first because I love Phil Collins, like, a lot. Then I went and looked at their tour dates and they (obviously) aren’t coming to Kansas City. But they also aren’t coming anyplace that would be economically feasible for me to travel to, either. Denver, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit. Also, getting Genesis tickets would probably be like trying to get Fleetwood Mac tickets last time they went on tour, which is to say that it would require luck, good timing, and a second mortgage. And for a show that’s not even coming to my city, just forget it.

Anyway, the real reason I even posted about it is that when I was on the Genesis website looking at tour dates I saw this concert picture of Phil Collins’ huge disembodied head and it made me want to see their show more than ever, because look at the guy! He is capable of anything! It looks like freaking Mr. Locke from the TV program “Lost” decided to contemplate a life on stage! You don’t know what Grumpy Reunion Tour Phil Collins might do!

The other thing is, whenever I think of Genesis, I think of Phil Collins, obviously. And whenever I think of Phil Collins I think of “In the Air Tonight”. And whenever I think of “In the Air Tonight” I think of this former coworker we used to have, because he really liked Phil Collins and that song in particular. He told me and my coworker friend once how he used to listen to that song in high school before sporting events to get himself feeling really intense for the game. So now every time I hear that song I always have this mental picture of a little 16 year old version of my former coworker sitting (fully clothed, duh) on a bench in a locker room, leaning down to adjust his long basketball socks or something, with a very serious expression, listening to that song and getting all intense about it.

So you know that if you told him you were drowning, he would not lend a hand!!!
