I Come From A Land Down Under

Today I went to the grocery store to buy salmon, broccoli, and the ingredients for rice pilaf. When I was leaving, I started thinking about Vegemite and wondering what it tastes like. I haven’t thought about Vegemite in years, so the only remotely possible connection I could think of was that I had watched the most recent episode of House this afternoon, and Dr. Chase is Australian. But I’m pretty sure it never came up in that context. By the time I got to the car, I wanted so badly to know about Vegemite that I wrote “vegemite” in sloppy cursive on the bottom of my shopping list, so I wouldn’t forget to research it on Wikipedia later.

Then I turned on the car and heard:

I said, “Do you speak-a my language?”
He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich.

This is my favorite kind of coincidence. It is just like the Men At Work read my mind and were waiting for me in the car.
