Review: Australian Panorama - Land of Golden Opportunity

I bought this book at a library booksale in 1993 after my social studies class learned all about the marvelous country Australia. Our teacher’s college roommate had been an Australian exchange student named Skip, and so most of what we heard was a strange conglomeration of secondhand anecdotes about good old Skip. Predominantly these consisted of stories about the behavior of dingoes, nudist beaches, and the outback. In retrospect, whether any of these were true remains to be seen, but at the time I considered this educational prime time.
Apparently the book began life as part of the Emporia Public Library collection in Emporia, KS, which is where I picked it up for a discard, probably for under $0.25. Someone has printed the rather cryptic message “To day is for everyone” in pencil on the last page, with this sentiment underlined, evidently to provide emphasis.
Anyway, I chose the book at the time because of a vague notion I had to study abroad in Australia. My junior high social studies teacher promised me at the time that if I did so I could come back and give a talk to his class. Mainly my interest in visiting Australia was in coming back with a way cool accent. At any rate this dream never panned out, I never even read my stupid out-of-date Australia book, and I hereby bequeath it to some dear stranger.
