Office Hours Are for the Birds

This morning I had another bird encounter of the unusual kind on my way to work. I was crossing the river on the 18th Street expressway and a bunch of big grey gulls, a whole cloud of them, came up from under the bridge and were all around my car. I thought for sure I would hit one, but they flew with me, weaving around the car as I drove, for about five seconds. It was really weird, and then they were just gone. As one fluid mass they turned and dove back under the bridge again. In less than a week I’ve had two bird incidents. Maybe it’s a sign that I absorbed a twin in the womb and that my dead twin will begin to psychically influence me in the near future, like in that Stephen King book The Dark Half.

I bought a new TV last night, because our 20 inch Toshiba that my roommate has had since we were freshmen at KU has begun to make ominous crackling sounds every time we turn it on. So happy birthday to me! I picked out a 30 inch widescreen Sony Trinitron that was a good price at Best Buy, and I figure sometime soon I’ll go pick up an HD cable box. I asked my boyfriend about that and he said basically it’s simple, you just call Time Warner and explain you need to exchange your cable box, then they tell you their office hours which are always 1:30 PM to 1:35 PM on Tuesdays and Sundays, and then you stop by and switch it out. The first thing I watched on my new TV was M*A*S*H last night. It was the episode where Major Houlihan’s father visits and acts like a dick for the whole trip, then tells her he loves her at the end of the show after Colonel Potter explains to him that he is basically a real asshole. Not my favorite episode ever but it looked great on my new television!
