Faith

Today our transfer girl was a lot easier to get along with, even though she complained all day again. The Amityville issue didn’t come up once, for which I was profoundly grateful. I realize now that it would be impossible to win the argument with her, much for the same reason that it’s impossible to win an argument with Christians: her entire side of the argument is faith-based and therefore renders the whole point moot. She believes Amityville is real, so nothing will shake her faith in this, even when presented with compelling evidence that suggests her believe is false. And because she is not very smart, she mistakes this certainty she has for proof of its truth. It would be mean of me to attempt to derail the faith of a Christian simply based on the fact that they similarly mistake belief for proof, so I can only conclude that it would be equally unkind to pursue the matter with her. That said, I hope the topic never comes up again.

She was over $35 in her till today. Better over than short, I suppose. She’s been talking about doing this for a while now, but apparently she’s considering becoming a stripper because she went with her friend to the club where she strips last night and her friend made $650 in tips. She said she herself made $150 just for being there, even though she isn’t a stripper yet and wasn’t doing anything except sitting there. We discussed the whole thing and she said that the strippers there don’t even really dance or whatever and they look kind of stupid mostly. So if she really gets into it, which she could because she’s actually attractive and good at dancing, she’d probably make even more. She’s looking forward to paying off her credit card debt, which I understand is significant, because much like I can’t control myself from buying books from the “deals” section at Borders, she can’t control herself from buying shoes and similar feminine haberdashery. She wants to ask my boss if she can go part time, but is nervous. Kind of with good reason, because I know she will get teased mercilessly if she starts stripping. We talked and I told her that if she wants to have a better chance of him saying yes, she should be able to commit to fitting her part time hours into two full ten hour days. Apparently she’s going to ask him tomorrow.

This ought to be interesting.
