I’m slowly trying to learn Illustrator, which is not helped by the fact that I don’t own a tablet. I don’t know for sure that lack of a tablet is harming my progress, but I’m positive it’s not helping at all. My friend helped me pick out the Wacom Graphire 3 4×5 inch tablet in case I decide to purchase one. I’m going to shop around a little. The way Illustrator handles vectors is different from the way that Fireworks, which I’m used to, does. So I’m not doing especially well, and also my lack of any artistic talent doesn’t help much.
Sunday we went to Half-Price Books so I could look for some books about cards, and I was intrigued when I saw that all three of their counter clerks appeared to be the same emo guy. I saw each of them at different places in the store, and became briefly convinced that one guy was following me around, which made me nervous until I realized there were three of him. They all had the same washed out jeans on, the same white-with-pastel-pin-stripes collared shirts, the same thick-rimmed glasses, and the same haircut. It was crazy, like watching a Discovery Channel special about animals you’ve seen in your backyard before but didn’t recognize for what they were. It’s like a whole species right there in Westport. I love it that they all match. They are exactly the same sad.
