- The new girl has been fired. She cashed a $4,500 counterfeit check without verifying and was fired for that and her other incompetent transgressions. When the check was returned to our store, I recognized it immediately because I remembered the day that she cashed it without telling me she was doing so. I found it later when I was getting ready to do deposits and thought, “Wow, I hope she verified this because it looks kind of…fake”. When I asked her she said she’d verified everything on the check, which later turned out to be a lie when we talked to the bank later. She got fired last Thursday while I was off work and the store manager called to tell me that he and I are in the doghouse too because we got scammed in the middle of September. I’m sorry that this guy got to her window, because if he’d come to me, there’s a strong chance that I would have busted him and we never would have gotten scammed. As it is, the store was scammed collectively for nearly $10,000, the new girl was fired as part of the aftermath, and the regional manager still has trouble not screaming at me and my boss when we talk to him. She was fired Thursday and we got her labor department paperwork for unemployment on Saturday. Poor new girl, such a nice but stupid person. At least she won’t be going hungry.
- Our company issued a memo saying that we’re not allowed to discuss things that could be considered sensitive information in public. They didn’t specifically mention websites, but I don’t want to cause them problems, so I’m going to wipe the site even further of identifying marks that might indicate which company I’m with. There are tons of places that do payday loans in the Kansas City metro area, so I could be with any one of them.
- Anyway, about the Code Enforcement saga. On the 22nd I showed up for my court date, only to sit in court for over an hour when I wasn’t even on the docket due to some bizarre clerical error. When I talked to the CE officer he said he didn’t know what had happened and said he would look into it for me. I asked if I’d have to come back, and he said maybe. It took him about a week longer to get back to me and he said the court date had been rescheduled but he was canceling it for me. He stressed that if I somehow got a letter demanding I show up anyway, to call him and get it straightened out because charges were dropped. I’ve been keeping the yard groomed as requested. It sucks.
