Less Money, Mo Problems (Confirmed)

I still haven’t caught my rat, but as long as I know he’s had some food and water semirecently I’m not as worried.
Last Friday still more madness occurred at work, as although my drawer was right on target for the whole week, the new girl’s drawer was short $99.80 when all was reckoned. The confusion was enhanced by the fact that the manager had done several transactions, and although he was assigned to the new girl’s drawer, they appeared on my drawer on the computer. I knew something was seriously wrong when I counted down my drawer at 4:00 PM and found that I was $811.82 over, and that the computer thought I only had $125 remaining. A quick audit revealed that the dollar total of the manager’s transactions was $811.82, which matched my overage to the penny, so thankfully I was off the hook. We then had her balance. It would have been simple to solve if the new girl’s shortage had matched my overage, but it didn’t. She was $1011.62 short, which complicated things considerably as it insinuated that she was $199.80 short even after I gave her the overage from my drawer. This was the most frustrated I had ever seen my poor manager. Eventually he deduced that she’d forgotten to enter a $100 Western Union check into the system, but that still left $99.80 that we never managed to account for. Although I wasn’t scheduled to work Saturday, I offered to work for my manager on Saturday to make up for the rotten afternoon he had had. “No,” he said in a tone laden with profound bitterness. “Go have a nice weekend. Just get out of this place for a while and don’t let yourself think about any of it for three days.”
When I got to work this morning I saw that his name had been savagely crossed off the schedule for today, and concluded that he’d had a bad Monday. Unfortunately our computers went down for the whole afternoon and we weren’t able to clock out, roll forward, balance our drawers, or enter the several transactions we’d been forced to complete manually today. I did my best to organize everything properly according to what needed to be done tomorrow morning, but he’s going to have a real shitty morning getting all that crap done on today’s business before opening for real business tomorrow morning.
My poor manager. I hope he doesn’t start bringing a gun to work.
